While working on my feathered wreath lesson for my workshop I thought it would be fun to throw out the idea that your feather wreaths don't have to be symmetrical and balanced. Why not have some fun with these and make beautiful feathered spheres??? Using different sized circles from my Ultimate Stencil I scattered  spheres around my fabric.  I had some circles going "underneath" each other and others that "interlocked". This creates great dimension and movement. I had fun offsetting the feather spines, adding several to a sphere and then challenged myself to fill in as desired.  Loads of fun...

I've started the long process of rewriting handbooks and with that comes new class samples to go with the new instruction.   One of my feathering lessons teaches my students how to create a simple feathered heart with a French Curve.  I thought I could double this lesson by showing the importance of Sunshine and Shadow. Creating perfect corners can be a bit difficult due to the fact that they are generally symmetrical and centered and getting consistent angles and arches isn't always easy! When I was in Houston for my special exhibit I had the pleasure of meeting Inez Rovegno.  She told me about this beautiful dresser scarf she quilted and I asked her to send me some photos as I love show and tell!  WOW!  I love what she did and just knew you would too.  I am quite impressed with all the beadwork she added to this.   She explained that the dresser scarf began all white.  The center and four extending flowers are pieces of lace that she added with the same backing to make them look like they were...

Pat was a student of mine in Sisters a few years ago and she recently contacted me with a wonderful show and tell!  She says I unleased the "mad quilter" in her!
