I would like to introduce yet another one of my special featured Linen Ladies at the Houston exhibit! Susan is a fellow Craftsy instructor (Machine Embroidery Inspired Quilt, and Heirloom Sewing Essential Techniques). She started sewing when she was five years old, grew up on a farm in Missouri and has lived for the past 15 years in a small town in Southeast Kansas. Over 25 years ago she discovered heirloom sewing and was soon writing, designing, and teaching for Martha Pullen Co. She discovered quilting in 2004 and added that to her list of passions. I'm thrilled to have...
Fall Market officially opened today in Houston and with that the exhibit hall with all the quilts was open too! A friend was able to grab some quick photos of some of the quilts.
Hoping to see you at the exhibit! Premiere Night is this coming Wednesday. We are in Row J off of "Main Street". Remember...I have two tables called the "Petting Zoo" where you are able to touch and fondle the quilts.
Hugs, Cindy :)
I recently posted some tutorials on designing with my Ultimate Stencils and my Ultimate Shape. By flipping it I created a triple line grid. I'm always telling my students you can use "The Basic Three" fillers to fill any quilting design to create an heirloom piece. Although this looks...
In my last tutorial I described how to make a basic eight pointed star using the Circle Ultimate Stencil. You can create beautiful stars using the square one too but they come out a bit different. Starting with the square transparency, create the center of your star first...just like we did with the circle. Note that I used every other line. Once the center lines are done, and using every other line, start creating your star points. I love how the squared star corner points go out further. Remember you can additional points in-between your existing star points if you...
Monique is another one of my special Linen Ladies that is being featured at the Houston Quilt Festival. I've known Monique for many years and have always been quite impressed with her attention to detail and her love for handwork. Once she was introduced to the world of wholecloth linen quilting she became an obsessed fan and hasn't looked back since! She has sewn her whole life from the time she was a child. She lives in Yuba City, California which is just about an hour south of where I live and is surrounded by rice fields, peach and almond...
